Pianist, mathematician and former software designer Robert Rook (Utrecht, 1966) combines opposites and sublimates them in his own, recognizable style. Solid precision goes hand in hand with untamed romance; virtuosity shifts to simple but well aimed notes. With his trio he recently released the successful double album Bimhuis Live and this evening's concert will also be recorded, for a DVD. The Volkskrant describes Rook as 'a rare and complete pianist.
